What's on Your Food Plate? |
All of you must have read about Michelle Obama's new "MyPlate" by now. The pyramid has been replaced with a circle and the hope is that people load up on vegetables, fruit, lean protein, and grains at a meal, along with a serving of dairy. It is using the same idea of the pyramid, but it will allow us a better and more conceptual understanding of how a healthy meal should look. Michelle Obama said that "As long as they're half full of fruits and vegetables and paired with lean protein, whole grains and low-fat dairy, we're golden."
If you are looking for a quick and healthy solution to follow the "MyPlate" guidelines, try our entrees and rice. Just heat the entrees and rice for 90 seconds and serve with a fruit, vegetable, and dairy serving. Our entrees are full of excellent vegetarian protein and our rice completes the grain requirement. If you are a little more adventurous try cooking with our Meal Inspirations. These are made with lentils, beans and whole grains. We have lots of recipe suggestions just for you that can be found on our website: http://www.tastybite.com/recipes. There is also the option to use our Cooking Sauces. Incorporate them into a stir-fry using a lean protein and vegetables served with our rice, fruit, and dairy. There you have it, a complete food plate made in heaven. Eating healthy doesn’t have to be complicated or compromise on taste. More information can be found at: http://www.choosemyplate.gov/ on Michelle Obama’s new “MyPlate.”
